A selection of country cards by Sue Marsden an artist and photographer based in the Ribble Valley - an area of outstanding natural beauty.
"I'm interested in capturing a moment and making cards and prints that people want to keep, share and enjoy. I enjoy photographing changing light, colour, beauty and humour. Often finding these in the simple everyday moments of a walk in the countryside."
The Ribble Valley, Lancashire is an area of outstanding natural beauty and is a haven for a rural photographer. Inspiration comes from various sources - the ever changing light on the landscape whether it's the looming mass of Pendle Hill or the reflections in the Rivers Calder, Hodder and Ribble. It is a land of legends with witches, boggarts and ancient stones recorded in local history. Much is to be discovered and captured and shared.
Whether it's the tale behind the arrival of the Village Kittens, knowing the secret sunbathing space of the Straw Cats or the reason behind the colourful frog spawn, I often find there is more to a picture than just meets the eye and the same image can mean different stories for different people. Sending a card that sparks a shared memory, an in joke or raises a smile can be an affordable pleasure.
